Former Executive: 'I enjoyed it on many levels'
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky—William Dougherty came to see Shen Yun Performing Arts with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren at Whitney Hall, the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, March 7.
Mr. Dougherty worked for the Civil Aeronautical Board as an executive assistant to the managing director in Washington D.C. for over 30 years, and he is now retired and living in Louisville. Previusly he was also a pilot and an air traffic controller.
“The colors and the beautiful, beautiful cast … the dancers were so good.” Mr. Dougherty
said in awe.
"Everyone with me enjoyed it, my son-in-law, he enjoyed it so much.” Mr. Dougherty’s son-in-law was born in China. His parents now live in Hong Kong, and his father is an artist there.
Mr. Dougherty’s daughter bought the tickets for the show so that her children could see this Chinese cultural performance, and their father's heritage. The New York-based Shen Yun brings this millennia old culture to life through ancient legends and modern tales through music and dance.
“Beautiful! I enjoyed it on many levels. It is truly a lot of hard work for these young people and of course I love the outfits,” he said, explaining the many aspects of the performance that he loved.
Shen Yun travels with a live orchestra of traditional Chinese and classical Western instruments and also includes solo singing performances and an erhu player. “I love the classical music and song," he said.
In concluding, Mr. Dougherty said, “It was a wonderful show.”
