OGDEN, Utah—A full house enjoyed the Shen Yun Performing Art’s March 18 performance in Ogden. Audience appreciation was apparent from the standing ovation given the performers.
Shen Yun Performing Arts presents classical Chinese dance as well as Chinese ethnic and folk dance. Shen Yun uses music and dance to bring the culture and history of China to life.
“It's a good way to learn their culture and it's fantastic art,” said Ms. Kisuk Steigers, who attended Shen Yun’s March 18 Ogden show.
Ms. Steigers, who works as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service, is of Korean heritage. She said that when one of her Chinese friends invited her to the performance she knew it would be wonderful.
She said she enjoyed learning more about Chinese history and beliefs. Familiar with Korean dance, she said she was interested to see how Chinese dance is different: “I was very interested in all the forms. They expressed their different culture very well.”
She also said she loved the accompanying live orchestra, “I loved it tonight because it's all live.”
Ms. Stiegers enjoyed not only the music and dance of Shen Yun, but also the deeper content of some of the stories told through the dance. “That’s what touched me,” she said, “the moral, the virtue, they believe in living a good moral life.”
Ms. Stiegers appreciated the opportunity to learn about Chinese culture and said it is important to know about culture.
“The more culture we know the better our lives, it uplifts the whole world—so this is a very wonderful opportunity to learn their culture.”
